This review assesses the Eko Terra Rainforest Terrarium as a habitat for green tree frogs. We purchased the medium-sized kit (45cm x 45cm x 65cm) and detail our experiences setting it up and housing six small green tree frogs. The kit's contents, including the terrarium, artificial plants, vines, substrate, a small water bowl, and a hydrometer, are examined for both their aesthetic appeal and practical functionality. We'll explore the terrarium's strengths and weaknesses, highlighting both positive aspects and areas needing improvement to optimize the frogs' well-being.Our initial assessment focused on the terrarium's suitability for multiple frogs, considering the size of the included water bowl and resting ledges. We will discuss the necessary modifications we made, including replacing the small water bowl and creating additional resting space. Furthermore, the review will address the quality of certain components, specifically the vines, and evaluate the overall effectiveness of the terrarium in maintaining a secure and comfortable environment for the frogs, considering factors such as humidity control and prey containment.

Unboxing and Initial Impressions
The Eko Terra Rainforest Terrarium arrived as a medium-sized kit (45cm x 45cm x 65cm), perfectly sized for my initial plan of housing several green tree frogs. The package included a small water bowl, artificial plants (a fern and others), two vines of varying sizes, and an attractive rear wall. The substrate was also provided, along with a canopy for lighting and a hydrometer.

The overall aesthetic of the terrarium is quite pleasing; its design is visually appealing and fits well into my living space. The inclusion of the hydrometer is a practical touch for monitoring humidity levels.

Housing Green Tree Frogs
I initially housed six small green tree frogs (approximately 4-5 cm long) in the terrarium. However, I quickly realized that this number might be excessive for the space, especially given the size of the provided water bowl.

Three frogs comfortably fit in the water bowl, while six struggle, making it crucial to rehome some of the frogs to provide adequate space and prevent overcrowding. I will need to relocate some of them soon.

Necessary Improvements and Modifications
The terrarium's small water bowl needs replacing with a larger one to accommodate the remaining frogs comfortably. The existing ledge is also too small for all the frogs to rest on simultaneously.

I plan to create a larger ledge, either by building a small wooden structure or using a similar material, to increase resting space for the frogs. This will improve the overall habitat and frog comfort.

Vine Quality and Other Observations
The vines included with the kit showed some quality issues, with splinters and splits present in both the larger and smaller ones. While this doesn't seem to directly harm the frogs, it detracts from the overall aesthetic and might be a concern for future purchases.

Despite these minor flaws, the terrarium itself is well-constructed and effectively contains crickets and flies, providing a secure feeding environment for the frogs. The frogs seem content and healthy within the terrarium.
Final Verdict
The Eko Terra Rainforest Terrarium is an attractive and functional habitat for green tree frogs. However, potential buyers should be aware that some modifications may be necessary to optimize the space for a suitable number of frogs. The small water bowl and ledge need upgrading to create a more comfortable environment.

Despite the minor quality issues with the vines, the terrarium is well-designed, keeping prey items securely contained, and overall it provides a safe space for the frogs. For a visually appealing and mostly functional terrarium, the Eko Terra is a decent option but may require some DIY adjustments.
